Aquamain Lloyds Accreditation
Aquamain (UK) Ltd have now been awarded partial accreditation to the water industry registration scheme. We are now a self -lay organization (SLO).
This now enables us to install new water mains and services at new development sites. The scheme was set up by OFWAT. The term Self-lay describes the process whereby developers choose their own contractor to install water mains and service pipes, rather than ask the appointed water supplier to carry out the work. Under the Water Industry Act 1991 (WIA 91) as amended by Water Act 2003; if a contractor lays pipes in accordance with the terms of an agreement with a water company then the water company must connect those pipes to their supply system and take over responsibility for (adopt) them.
This will be good news for developers in the South West as they will no longer have to wait for water companies to connect up water services to their new developments, which in the past has caused delays to the developers.
Developers may also find financial benefits in using an SLO as our overheads will be lower. Aquamain will be able to take care of the whole installation from feasibility to completion leaving project managers to do what they do best.
